Improving the principles of animation
During my first few months in Berlin, I decided to enhance my animation skills and knowledge while I were seeking freelancing opportunities in the new city. So I enrolled an advance animation training class, Animation Bootcamp. A six weeks online training course, taught by Joey Korenman, the founder of School of Motion.
It is dedicated to greatly strengthen the attendants' animation skills by reviewing the fundamentals of animation, and understanding the applications of graph editors.
It was definitely a journey with a lot of fun work. From physics of bounces and oscillations, to eye tracing and reinforcing motion and more.
Every keyframe matters. This journey has helped me solidify my animation skills and stay hungry of growing as an animator.
The classes are taught online with ongoing review by our TA after submitting each render. Plus one general review meeting every week by Joey.
The design assets are provided at the class (except N.1). I solely focused on the essence of the animation.
Below is a selection of some of the exercises I had the most fun with.
1. SPACING ROLLER COASTER - Animation done in AF
2. STEP THREE
3. … the Speed Graph "DOGFIGHT"
4. FOLLOW-THROUGH TYPE "Nüdl"
5. SQUASH & STRETCH "Pong Challenge"
6. QUICK UI "Brain Hole"
7. CIRCLE SOCIETY
8. EYE CONTROL
It is always great to dedicate some time on the side to improve those skills with either collaborative projects or online classes.
I am very happy with this Animation Bootcamp experience.
Thank you School of Motion team!
